The Mukono District Local Government, in partnership with the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area Urban Development Programme (GKMA-UDP), held a meeting on Tuesday to share the property valuation report with Project Affected Persons (PAPs) for the Ntenjeru–Buule Road construction project.
The engagement, held at Ntenjeru–Kisoga Town Council, brought together district leaders, GKMA-UDP officials, representatives from the Office of the Chief Government Valuer, and the affected community members.
District Community Development Officer Minsa Namukose Kirya thanked residents for their cooperation in providing land for the road works and appreciated their patience throughout the consultation and valuation process.
Andrew Oduma, from the Office of the Chief Government Valuer, stated that the valuation report provides comprehensive assessments of affected properties, including land, structures, crops, and disturbance allowances. He assured participants that qualified valuers conducted detailed fieldwork to ensure transparency and fairness in compensation.
Lamek Sseryazi, the Social Development Specialist at the Ministry of Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, emphasized the need for property owners to verify their boundaries and documentation to ensure that only legitimately affected individuals receive compensation.
Representing the Chief Administrative Officer, Alowo Eunice Evelyn, Clerk to Council for Mukono District, confirmed that the Ntenjeru–Buule Road project has been officially approved. She added that the contract handover to the selected contractor will happen soon, allowing construction to commence.
The government officially launched the groundbreaking for the 7.8-kilometer Ntenjeru–Buule road section in Mpatta Sub-County on October 2. The section is valued at UGX 37 billion (about $9.9 million USD). The Ministry is currently advertising bids for contractors to handle the remaining sections of the project.
Officials from Mukono District and GKMA-UDP reiterated their commitment to ensuring a transparent compensation process and the prompt start of construction activities.
