President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni took his wealth creation campaign to Moyo District on Friday afternoon, urging residents to prioritize household income-generating activities before taking a two-day break to attend to other state duties.
Speaking to a large crowd at Celecelea Playgrounds, President Museveni highlighted the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and social services, which he said allows citizens to focus on wealth creation. “When you return home in the evening, the poverty you left in the morning is still waiting for you. That is why we in the NRM have always emphasized wealth creation alongside development,” he remarked.
The President pointed out Uganda’s progress in roads, electricity, and social services but noted that many families have yet to translate these developments into better household incomes. He encouraged Moyo residents to take advantage of government initiatives like the Parish Development Model and small-scale farming enterprises to participate in the money economy.
Museveni also reiterated his call for families to adopt commercial farming practices to improve their livelihoods. “Those who listened to my advice in the cattle corridor are now successful, with good homes, educated children, and stable incomes,” he said.
The President thanked Moyo residents for their continued support of the NRM government, calling them “long-standing comrades in the struggle for peace and prosperity.”
Museveni will take a short break from the campaign trail and return on Monday to conclude his West Nile tour with a final rally in Adjumani District. On the same day, he will move to the Acholi sub-region, beginning with a rally in Amuru District.
