Three people have died and one person was injured in a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred on the morning of October 20, 2025, at around 8:30 a.m. in Kyoga Village, Namusera Parish, Wakiso Town Council, along the Kampala–Hoima highway.
Reports indicate that a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UGD 327F, was carrying four passengers from Hoima to Kampala when the rider suddenly stopped to avoid hitting a stationary Sinotruk truck and an oncoming vehicle. The abrupt stop caused all four occupants to fall off the motorcycle, resulting in three fatalities and one serious injury.
The deceased have been identified as Byandagalo Shafick (28), the rider; Galabuzi Robinson (27); and Jjemba Shafick (23). The injured passenger, identified as Edison, a resident of Nkoowe Village in Mende Sub-county, Wakiso District, was taken to a nearby health facility for medical attention.
Traffic police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, recorded statements from witnesses, and transported the bodies to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Confirming the incident, SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, urged motorists and motorcyclists to drive with caution, particularly when overtaking or maneuvering around parked vehicles.
Police have opened an investigation into the cause of the accident. The incident highlights the ongoing dangers on Uganda’s highways, often linked to reckless driving, overloading, and non-compliance with traffic regulations. Authorities continue to remind all road users to prioritize safety to help prevent such tragic losses.
