Hajj Faruk Kirunda, the Special Presidential Assistant on Press and Mobilisation and Deputy Spokesperson, has urged the people of Kamuli District to unite and give overwhelming support to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming general elections.
While addressing more than 250 boda boda stage chairpersons and NRM leaders in Kamuli, Kirunda warned that refusing to back President Museveni — even because of internal disagreements — would be “like digging your own grave and burying yourself.”
He reminded residents of their voting patterns in the 2021 elections, noting that although many in the region did not support Museveni, he still appointed several leaders from Kamuli and Buyende to senior government positions. “Do not repeat the mistakes of 2021. Vote for President Museveni to ensure more development and a stable future for Uganda,” Kirunda advised.
Kirunda emphasized that internal wrangles weaken the NRM and damage its credibility. He called for unity, discipline, and teamwork among party members to secure the party’s strength both now and in the years ahead.
Highlighting the positive working relationship between President Museveni and the 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, who also serves as the Woman MP for Kamuli District, Kirunda encouraged leaders to focus on service delivery and national development instead of divisive politics. “Cherish the peace we enjoy today and safeguard it for future generations,” he urged.
During the meeting, boda boda leaders raised concerns about the alleged misuse of Emyooga funds. Kirunda assured them that the matter would be investigated and resolved within a week, and that police would take necessary action if wrongdoing was found. He further encouraged boda boda operators to remain united and organized to better represent their interests and improve safety in their operations. Requests for more police patrols to boost security in high-risk areas were also acknowledged.
From Kamuli, Kirunda proceeded to Buwenge in Jinja District, where he repeated his call for unity and condemned political violence within the NRM. He referenced previous incidents during party primaries and urged members to embrace peaceful politics. Kirunda also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to acquiring a sugar factory in the sub-region, noting that implementation would proceed once all preparations were complete.
In Jinja City, Kirunda criticized the opposition’s lack of tangible results in areas that supported them, arguing that such choices had yielded little benefit for local communities. He concluded by appealing to residents to remain loyal to the NRM and continue supporting President Museveni, stressing that unity and consistent leadership are vital for lasting development in the region.
