In a disturbing twist, Kampala’s well-known socialite and self-proclaimed philanthropist, Bryan Kirumira, popularly known as Bryan White, has been charged with human sacrifice in connection to the tragic and gruesome death of his girlfriend, Nalubwama Carol.
The case has sent shockwaves through the city, with details emerging of a ritualistic murder that allegedly involved several accomplices and a failed cover-up attempt. The charges against White, along with his associates, have sparked outrage and ignited public debates on the resurgence of ritual crimes in Uganda.
On October 22, 2025, the lifeless body of Carol was found at Bryan White’s residence in Kyamula Zone, Munyonyo. According to investigators, Carol was not a victim of a random accident but a gruesome act that involved elements of witchcraft. Bryan White, along with five others, is accused of carrying out a ritual murder intended to gain wealth or power. The police have charged him with human sacrifice under the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act, accusing him of causing Carol’s death by burning her in a ritual act.

White has also been charged with manslaughter, as authorities claim he unlawfully caused the victim’s death between October 22 and 27 while she was under medical care at Kiruddu Hospital. The incident reportedly involved a horrific act where Carol was massaged with petrol and ghee, while candle wax was set alight in the room as part of the ritual. This disturbing detail paints a chilling picture of the events leading up to Carol’s tragic demise.
Alongside Bryan White, four women, including Daisy Nalunga, Daphine Abaho, Naava Nakato, and Joyce Irene Nambalirwa, have been implicated in the crime. These women, all from the Munyonyo and surrounding areas, face various charges, ranging from conspiracy to commit murder, to negligence leading to death. Investigators have alleged that the group conspired to perform a ritual sacrifice, claiming that burning Carol was necessary for summoning wealth and power.
Adding to the shock, the accused allegedly tried to cover up their crime by misleading authorities. They initially told police that Carol had been burned on October 27 and had been admitted to Kiruddu Hospital for treatment. However, investigators discovered that she had actually been brought to M. Mabirizi Nursing Home on October 22, before being transferred to Kiruddu Hospital. This inconsistency raised suspicions, leading to further investigation and the eventual charges.
Joyce Irene Nambalirwa, the administrator of the M. Mabirizi Nursing Home, also faces charges of manslaughter. Investigators claim that she failed to properly care for Carol and neglected to refer her to a larger hospital, which could have potentially saved her life. The failure to act appropriately during Carol’s initial medical treatment has added another layer of tragedy to this case.
Bryan White’s arrest has highlighted the dangerous and alarming rise in ritual crimes, particularly in urban areas like Kampala. The case has also brought into question the power and influence of wealthy individuals in Uganda, with many wondering if Bryan White and others like him operate above the law. The charges against White are some of the most serious in Ugandan criminal law, carrying penalties as severe as life imprisonment or even the death penalty if convicted.

Public outrage has been growing, as many Ugandans feel that this is not an isolated case but part of a larger problem of ritualistic killings tied to the pursuit of wealth and power. Calls have been made for stronger enforcement of laws against human sacrifice, and for more scrutiny of high-profile figures who may be using their wealth to avoid accountability.
The tragic death of Carol Nalubwama has left her family and friends devastated. Her loved ones are still struggling to come to terms with the shocking nature of her death. The community, too, is in disbelief, as they try to understand how such a heinous crime could take place in their midst.
As the investigation continues, the public will be watching closely, waiting to see if Bryan White and his associates will be held accountable for their alleged actions. The case has raised important questions about the safety and morality of high-society circles, where the quest for power and wealth may sometimes come at an unimaginable cost.
