Award-winning Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has revealed that he has quietly returned to school, a decision he says is inspired by personal ambition, maturity, and the desire to build a secure future beyond his music career.
The internationally recognized star disclosed that he successfully sat for mature entry examinations and passed, paving the way for his admission into university. For Kenzo, the move represents a major personal victory after years of global recognition without a formal academic path.
Amid widespread public speculation, the singer was quick to clarify that his decision has nothing to do with politics. Despite often being seen at political functions, Kenzo emphasized that his academic journey is strictly about self-improvement and expanding his knowledge.
He explained that his children played a central role in influencing his return to the classroom. Kenzo said he wants them to understand the value of education and see firsthand that learning does not stop with fame or success.
The musician added that while his children may one day be involved in his businesses, education remains essential for independence and long-term stability. According to him, investing in knowledge is the smartest decision he can make for his family.
Kenzo also acknowledged that music, though rewarding, is not a permanent career. He noted that preparing for life in his later years requires planning ahead, and education offers him options when he eventually steps away from the stage.
While separating his studies from political ambition, Kenzo did not hide his personal views on national leadership. He said his travels abroad have shaped his understanding of governance, and he believes Uganda’s current leadership has guided the country in the right direction.
His statements come at a time when the public continues to question his political alignment, especially given his earlier association with opposition voices. Nonetheless, Kenzo maintains that returning to school is a personal mission—one focused on growth, responsibility, and securing his future beyond entertainment.
