Uganda’s social scene has been thrown into shock after police arrested socialite Bryan White’s wife, Nava Nakato, along with his family doctor and two housemaids, over the mysterious death of 25-year-old Caroline Nalubwama, who reportedly died after sustaining severe burns at his home in Kyamula, Makindye Division.
According to initial reports, Bryan White, whose real name is Brian Kirumira, told police that Caroline’s injuries resulted from a gas cylinder explosion while she was cooking. However, Caroline’s family disputes this account, claiming there is more to the story than what the socialite has told investigators.

Family members allege that Caroline, who had just returned from Dubai, was in a romantic relationship with Bryan White and may have fallen victim to a ritual-related incident. The deceased’s father, Ssalongo Tom Mutyaba, said Bryan personally called to inform him of his daughter’s death, but shockingly, she was allegedly at a shrine when she passed away.
Detectives investigating the case confirmed finding grass-thatched structures suspected to be shrines within Bryan White’s compound. The disturbing discovery has raised further suspicion about what might have really happened to Caroline before she was rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where she later died.
Speaking at a press briefing at Naguru police headquarters, Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire revealed that investigators had uncovered major inconsistencies in Bryan White’s statements. While Bryan claimed the burns occurred on October 24, hospital records indicate Caroline was first admitted to Mabilizi Nursing Home on October 22, several days earlier.
Police further revealed that Caroline stayed at the private nursing home for nearly a week because Bryan White allegedly refused to pay her medical bills. As a result, her treatment was delayed, and her condition worsened before she was transferred to Kiruddu Hospital on October 27. Tragically, she passed away shortly after arrival.
Owoyesigyire said investigations show that Bryan White attempted to handle the matter privately instead of reporting it to police in time. This delay, according to investigators, may have contributed to the deterioration of the victim’s condition.
Authorities have since arrested Joyce Irene Nambalirwa, the owner of Mabilizi Nursing Home, for negligence and withholding medical care due to unpaid bills. Two other suspects, Daisy Nalunga and Daphne Abaho, who worked as housemaids at Bryan White’s residence, have also been detained to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Bryan White himself remains hospitalized under police guard as investigations continue. He is no stranger to controversy — in 2017, he was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a neighbor, though the charges were later dropped. In 2020, he faced further legal trouble over fraud and unpaid debts, including accusations of acquiring a luxury car under false pretenses.
Police say the current case is still under active investigation, and forensic reports will determine the exact cause of Caroline’s death. Meanwhile, the public has been left shocked, with many questioning how a woman could sustain such injuries in a well-guarded home without immediate medical help. The mystery deepens as Uganda awaits the full truth behind the tragic death of Caroline Nalubwama.
