Joel Okuyo Prynce, the husband of celebrated Ugandan singer Cindy Sanyu, has issued a strong and uncompromising message to the Uganda Police Force, condemning what he describes as growing brutality against National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters. His statement has sparked conversations across social media, with many praising him for speaking out at a tense political moment.
Prynce, who is also a respected actor and filmmaker, said it is unacceptable for security agencies to use excessive force on citizens simply because of their political affiliation. He emphasized that Uganda’s Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to participate in political activities without fear, intimidation, or violence.

“Impunity is unacceptable, civic participation is a gazed constitutional right,” Prynce said in his powerful message. His words come at a time when reports of clashes between security forces and opposition supporters have once again taken center stage in national discussions.
The filmmaker went further to condemn the abuse of women during political activities, saying such acts violate not only human rights but also the dignity of mothers, sisters, and daughters who are the backbone of society. He described the mistreatment of women during election periods as both heartbreaking and criminal.
“Abuse of women and all Ugandans is a felony,” he stressed, urging security officers to uphold the law they swore to protect instead of misusing their power against innocent citizens. His statement has been applauded by women’s rights defenders and activists who say violence against women in politics must be confronted boldly.
Prynce also demanded a free and fair electoral process, reminding authorities that peaceful elections strengthen national unity and public confidence in government institutions. According to him, democracy cannot flourish in an environment where fear, harassment, and brutality overshadow the voices of the people.
His message has resonated with many Ugandans who feel that the space for political expression has become increasingly unsafe. Social media users praised Prynce for using his platform to advocate for justice, especially in a time where many public figures avoid political commentary out of fear or pressure.

Cindy Sanyu’s supporters also joined the conversation, noting that her husband has always been vocal on issues affecting the country. They said his courage reflects the frustrations of many Ugandans who want peaceful elections, dignity for all, and accountability from those in authority.
Political observers say Prynce’s remarks echo the concerns of civil society organizations, opposition leaders, and human rights groups who have repeatedly called on security forces to respect the law and protect the rights of all citizens regardless of their political alignment.
As the election season heats up, Prynce’s powerful message has added a significant voice to the growing call for fairness, justice, and respect for human rights in Uganda. Whether the authorities will respond remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—Ugandans are watching, and many are demanding the same accountability he boldly spoke about.
