The House Anti-Corruption Unit is moving to interdict and investigate civil servants from Ntungamo District Local Government and Ntungamo Municipality over alleged administrative and financial irregularities, in a development that has put several public officials under scrutiny.
The directive reportedly targets officials from key departments responsible for managing public resources and delivering services, including finance, procurement, engineering, human resources, internal audit and administration. The planned investigations are intended to establish the facts surrounding the alleged irregularities and determine whether any misconduct occurred.
Among the 22 officials reportedly linked to Ntungamo District are former Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Kiiza Fedelis, Chief Finance Officer Lawrence Bitaramunda, Principal Assistant Secretary Niwagaba Gerald, former Principal Human Resource Officer Tukundane Mary and current Principal Human Resource Officer Muhairwe Jenipher.
Other officials named include District Engineer Eng. Kushemererwa, District Education Officer Ntare Denis, former Chief Administrative Officer Ndifuna Mathius, former Rubaare Town Clerk Byamukama Emmanuel and former Ntungamo Sub-county Chief Tindimwebwa Alex. District Water Engineer Eng. Prosper Butubuura and Rubaare Town Engineer Moses Atwiine are also on the list.
The list further includes Principal Internal Auditor Caleb Ezrah, Procurement Officer Ahabwe Amelin, Senior Procurement Officer Makafu Moses, Senior Internal Auditor Kwesigamukama Ezrah and Secretary to the District Service Commission Katusiime David Kabaka. District Service Commission Chairperson Alex Twebuuze, former Parish Chief Muriisa Frank, Kitwe Town Engineer Muhinda Fred, Kafunjo-Mirama Town Council Accountant Rukundo Johnson and members of the Rubaare Land Committee are also mentioned.
In Ntungamo Municipality, seven officials are reportedly targeted, including former Town Clerk Tumwesigye Isaiah, Assistant Engineer Eng. Ankunzire Frank, Municipal Engineer Eng. Tumusiime Fred and Principal Accountant Niwamanya Banex. The others are Senior Human Resource Officer Niwagira Fred, Environmental Officer Felix Turyajunwa and Senior Procurement Officer Sunday Hamdan.
The proposed action is expected to pave the way for closer examination of the officials’ conduct and the management of public affairs in the two local government entities. The probe could help establish whether established procedures were followed and whether any individuals bear responsibility for the alleged irregularities.
However, the specific allegations against individual officials have not been detailed in the information available. Any interdiction or investigation should not be interpreted as proof of wrongdoing, and the affected officials remain entitled to due process as the matter progresses.
