The political atmosphere in Uganda has taken another dramatic turn following fresh statements from opposition leader Bobi Wine.
In a message shared through social media, he addressed his supporters and made strong claims about the outcome of the 2026 presidential elections.
According to Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, he believes he won the election but that his victory was taken away.
He stated clearly that the results announced do not reflect the will of the people.
These remarks directly challenge the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni, who has remained in power for decades.
The claims have sparked renewed debate among citizens and political observers.
Kyagulanyi went further to say that the reason he is currently in hiding is because security forces are actively looking for him. He mentioned both President Museveni and his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as key figures behind the search.

In his message, he thanked Ugandans who have been protecting him since January 16, 2026. Although he did not reveal their identities, he expressed deep appreciation for their support during what he described as a very difficult time.
He explained that his safety has depended on ordinary citizens who believe in his cause. This statement has strengthened his image among supporters as a leader connected to the people.
Kyagulanyi also revealed his next move, stating that he plans to travel to the United Kingdom and the United States. According to him, the purpose of this trip is to meet world leaders and raise concerns about the election.
He said that these meetings are aimed at pushing for international pressure, including possible sanctions against the Ugandan government. This approach shows a shift from local political action to global engagement.
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions. Some supporters see it as a bold step toward justice, while critics argue that involving foreign powers may complicate the situation further.
Despite the risks, Kyagulanyi stated that he intends to return to Uganda soon. He specifically mentioned that he would come back through Entebbe Airport, openly challenging the authorities.
His statement, “let the army do whatever they want in broad daylight,” reflects both confidence and defiance. It suggests that he is prepared to face whatever may happen upon his return.
In his absence, Kyagulanyi has appointed his deputy, Lina Zedriga, to act as the president of the National Unity Platform. This move is meant to ensure continuity within the party.
The decision highlights the importance of leadership structure within political movements, especially during uncertain times. It also shows that the party is preparing to continue its activities despite challenges.
Supporters of the National Unity Platform have continued to express loyalty, with many calling for transparency and fairness in the electoral process. They believe that their voices should be respected.

On the other hand, government supporters maintain that the election was conducted lawfully. They argue that claims of a stolen victory need clear evidence to be taken seriously.
Political analysts note that such disputes are not uncommon in highly contested elections. However, they warn that unresolved tensions can affect national stability if not handled carefully.
The situation has also attracted attention beyond Uganda. International observers are closely watching how events unfold, especially with Kyagulanyi’s planned meetings abroad.
Within the country, daily life continues, but there is an underlying sense of uncertainty. Many citizens are waiting to see what will happen next and how the situation will develop.
As discussions continue, questions remain about the future of Uganda’s political landscape. Will there be dialogue, confrontation, or a peaceful resolution?
For now, Kyagulanyi’s message has added a new chapter to the ongoing political story. His claims, plans, and determination have ensured that the conversation is far from over.
In the end, this unfolding situation reflects the complexity of leadership, democracy, and public trust. It is a moment that could shape the country’s direction for years to come.
