Former Mityana Woman MP Joyce Bagala has made a heartfelt appeal to voters, asking them to give her another chance despite losing the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket. Speaking with emotion and urgency, Bagala insisted that her political commitment to Uganda’s transformation has not changed, even though she is no longer carrying the NUP flag.
Bagala explained that failing to secure the NUP card should not be seen as a rejection of change or the opposition struggle. She said many Ugandans support change, even if they do not belong to a particular political party.
“It’s not that everyone who doesn’t support NUP doesn’t support change—we all support change,” Bagala said. “I still want to see the new Uganda even though I didn’t secure the NUP card.”
She described the party vetting process as deeply flawed, revealing that the experience pushed her to return directly to the people of Mityana, believing they are the true decision-makers.
“The vetting was so messed up that I decided to come back to the people of Mityana and let them decide with their vote,” she said. “Listen to whoever comes to you, but observe who will work for you.”
Her message highlights a growing political tension within the opposition, especially as several candidates across the country express dissatisfaction with how vetting and primaries were handled.
Bagala, known for her strong grassroots support and outspoken voice, reminded voters that leadership should be about service—not party labels. She urged them to judge her by her record and commitment to the community, rather than by internal party politics.
As the election season gathers momentum, all eyes are on Mityana District to see whether voters will give Joyce Bagala the second chance she’s fighting hard to earn.
