The First National Vice Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Alhaji Moses Kigongo, has appealed to party supporters to remain steadfast and rally behind officially endorsed NRM flagbearers, cautioning that promoting independent candidates who lost in the primaries undermines party cohesion.
Addressing NRM leaders and supporters in Budhabangula village, Bulongo Subcounty, Luuka District, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, Kigongo emphasized that internal divisions weaken the ruling party’s strength and unity. He was accompanied by Haji Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary and Special Assistant for Press and Mobilization.
“Support only the NRM candidate if you want your vote to have real impact,” Kigongo told attendees. “Do not involve yourselves in personal political rivalries or internal squabbles.”
He further urged members to distance themselves from factionalism and cliques within the party, noting that such tendencies often lead to unnecessary disputes.
Kigongo commended Haji Kirunda for his unwavering commitment to the development of Busoga region, praising his consistent community outreach and loyalty to the NRM. “Kirunda’s dedication to Busoga is commendable. His selfless service should inspire every one of us,” Kigongo remarked.
In his address, Haji Kirunda encouraged residents of Luuka to maintain their long-standing support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and NRM candidates at all political levels, saying their votes are vital in sustaining national progress.
“Vote with conviction. Your continued support enables us to serve you better,” Kirunda said. “Luuka has always stood with the NRM, and that loyalty must remain strong from the top leadership to the grassroots.”
Rev. Can. Moses Dhikange, Archdeacon of Kiyunga Archdeaconry, also called upon party members to embrace reconciliation and unity, while the Luuka Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Kibwika Micheal, encouraged the flagbearers to actively promote the NRM manifesto as the nation heads toward the next general elections.
