A wave of fear and disbelief swept through Kisenyi III Parish in Kampala on the night of 16th December 2025 after a brutal double murder shattered the area’s usual calm. What began as an ordinary night quickly turned into a nightmare when a violent attack claimed the lives of two men within minutes, leaving residents traumatized and searching for answers.
At about 11:00 pm, a 30-year-old Burundian national identified as Emma, also known as “Young,” allegedly struck his first victim as the man walked home from work. The victim, a fellow Burundian who survived by selling goods on the streets, was ambushed without warning. His attacker slashed his neck, killing him instantly before anyone nearby could react or intervene.
Moments later, the suspect reportedly moved through the neighborhood to carry out a second attack. Roughly 300 meters from the first scene, he reached the home of another Burundian man, believed to be around 20 years old. The young man was asleep and unaware of the danger when the suspect attacked him, again slashing his neck and causing his immediate death.
The speed and brutality of the attacks left the community in shock. Within a short span of time, two lives had been violently cut short, turning familiar streets into scenes of horror and sorrow. Residents only began to understand the scale of the tragedy after alarm and confusion spread through the area.
After the killings, the suspect reportedly attempted to end his own life by inflicting serious injuries to his neck. Members of the public intervened, restraining him and preventing further harm. Police were quickly notified, and the suspect was rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he remains in critical condition under police protection.
Officers later visited both locations where the murders occurred, documenting the scenes and recovering two knives believed to have been used in the attacks. Witnesses were questioned, and investigators began piecing together the sequence of events that led to the deadly rampage.
The bodies of the two victims were taken for postmortem examinations as efforts began to establish their full identities and trace their relatives. Authorities have stated that the motive behind the killings is still unclear, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether the attack was driven by personal conflict, mental distress, or other factors.
As Kisenyi struggles to recover from the shock, residents have expressed fear and sadness over the rare outbreak of such extreme violence. Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with investigations, assuring the community that every effort is being made to uncover the truth and restore a sense of safety.
