The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Board and senior management have engaged the Inspectorate of Government in a meeting focused on public concerns, service delivery challenges and opportunities to improve services for Ugandans.
The Inspectorate of Government delegation was led by Deputy Inspector General of Government Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, who met NIRA officials to discuss issues affecting the authority’s operations and how service delivery can be strengthened.
During the engagement, NIRA outlined its growing national responsibilities and the staffing constraints it faces as it works to provide identification and civil registration services to people across Uganda.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss public complaints relating to customer care, accountability and the need for government institutions to respond promptly to the concerns of citizens.
NIRA received direct feedback on areas that require attention, allowing the authority to reflect on its service delivery processes and identify opportunities to improve its response to public concerns.
Deputy Inspector General of Government Muhairwe acknowledged the importance of addressing citizens’ complaints and emphasised the need for public institutions to remain accountable and responsive to the people they serve.
The Inspectorate of Government’s Director of Legal Services commended NIRA for the visible improvements in service delivery, acknowledging the progress made by the authority in fulfilling its responsibilities.
NIRA reaffirmed its commitment to using public feedback to improve services, strengthen accountability and ensure that all Ugandans can access professional, timely and reliable identification and civil registration services.
