A story published by eagle.co.ug has made serious allegations against Dr. Chris Mukiza, the Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), claiming he was involved in an incident where he allegedly attempted to shoot Rubanda West MP Moses Kamuntu during a confrontation at a hotel in Kololo. These claims are unverified, false, and appear to have no factual basis.
The report, which has since spread across social media platforms including Facebook and Phoenix, is being described as sensational and misleading, with indications that it may be intended to provoke controversy and possible extortion.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, there is no record of such an incident being reported at any police station, further casting doubt on the allegations.
It is also clarified that Dr. Mukiza is not a self-driver when on official duty. He is always transported by an official driver, and his security arrangements are handled by a trained protection detail responsible for his safety.
The additional claims suggesting that Dr. Mukiza was intoxicated and attempted to use a firearm against MP Kamuntu are strongly denied, as they directly contradict his known professional conduct and established record of leadership at UBOS.
Members of the public are encouraged to treat such reports with caution and rely only on verified and official information, as misinformation can easily spread and damage reputations unfairly.
