Hon. Biara Emmanuel, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Bulambuli, has called for clarity and focus in the ongoing political engagement with Hon. Norbert Mao.
Speaking recently, Hon. Biara emphasized that promoting Hon. Mao while he is still aligned with the Democratic Party (DP) could create confusion among supporters.
He insisted that political loyalty and clear commitment are crucial for smooth governance and party unity.
According to Hon. Biara, Hon. Mao should first make a firm decision if he intends to pursue a high-ranking role within the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He highlighted that the most influential positions, such as the presidency, speakership, and deputy speakership, are reserved, and any other role is open to Hon. Mao for now and any furtger discussions can be made should he formally commit to the NRM.
“Give us the DP card, and then we can see the way forward,” Biara said, recalling how other leaders, like Rt. Hon. AAA and Rt. Hon. TT, made clear commitments in the past, with successful results.
The MP’s comments underline the importance of political clarity and the risks of sending mixed messages to supporters. Hon. Biara’s position suggests that while Hon. Mao has room to serve in government, his future ambitions must be aligned with a clear party choice.
This statement is likely to spark discussions on loyalty, leadership, and the strategic decisions that shape Uganda’s political landscape.
