A heartbreaking cry for help has emerged from Ugandans and other African nationals currently living in India. Many of them claim they are facing discrimination, harassment, and unfair treatment in a country where they had hoped to find better opportunities. Their voices, filled with fear and desperation, have now reached the public through emotional messages shared online.
Christabel, a Ugandan woman living in India, narrated a painful story of alleged abuse. She says Africans are being targeted in raids, having their doors broken, their money taken, and in some cases being forced into dangerous situations. According to her, some Ugandans have been harmed or even lost their lives, leaving the community terrified and helpless.

She explained that many Africans are being arrested without clear reasons. Some, she claims, have been in jail for years despite not committing any crimes. The most disturbing part of the testimony is the allegation that people are taken away during surprise operations and detained without being allowed to contact their embassies.
Christabel says that many of the places where Africans are held are not official deportation centers but facilities where foreigners are kept after being picked up from the streets or their homes. She describes the situation as a form of kidnapping, where detainees have limited communication with the outside world and are constantly watched.
The emotional message also questions why Ugandans welcome Indians warmly in Uganda—allowing them to live, work, and run businesses peacefully—yet Africans in India allegedly face hostility, violence, and discrimination. She wonders why the treatment is so different and asks leaders to intervene urgently.
According to her, the Ugandan embassy in India has not done enough to protect its citizens. She claims that instead of offering support, some embassy officials chase away those seeking help. The lack of assistance has left many Africans feeling abandoned in a foreign land where their safety is uncertain.
Nigerians and other African nationals are also said to be going through similar experiences. Christabel said that the suffering cuts across the entire African community, and that they all live in fear—afraid of being arrested, beaten, or deported without grounds. This, she says, has created a climate of panic among Africans living in India.

The message goes on to reveal that detainees are not allowed to make phone calls, and the only reason Christabel managed to send her plea was because officers believed the phone had no airtime. She warns that if the authorities discover she communicated with anyone, she could face severe punishment or be moved to an unknown location.
These allegations highlight a deep and urgent crisis that requires diplomatic attention. If these claims are true, the rights and safety of many Africans in India are being violated. Both the Ugandan and Nigerian embassies, as well as the African Union, may need to investigate and act swiftly to protect their citizens.
For now, the cries for help continue to spread across social media. Ugandans like Christabel are begging their government and the international community to intervene before more lives are lost. Their message is clear and desperate: “Please, we are dying here. Help us.”
