The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the Ministry of Works and Transport have renewed efforts to bring order and efficiency to Kampala’s busy transport network. In a strategic meeting, officials from both institutions discussed practical solutions to address traffic congestion, road safety, and public discipline within the city.
With Kampala continuing to grow rapidly, pressure on the transport system has increased. Traffic jams, poorly organized stages, and indiscipline among some road users have created daily challenges for commuters and businesses. Leaders acknowledged that without firm action, the situation could worsen.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on strengthening enforcement of transport regulations and improving coordination between city authorities and national agencies. Officials stressed that restoring order on the roads requires clear guidelines, proper supervision, and public cooperation.
They also noted that reforms may initially inconvenience some road users, especially as new measures are introduced. However, these changes are aimed at building a safer, more reliable, and efficient system that benefits everyone in the long run.
Both KCCA and the Ministry of Works expressed commitment to working closely to ensure the reforms succeed. With stronger collaboration and public support, Kampala is expected to move closer to achieving a well-organized and modern urban transport system.
