Day 2 of #RFC2026 in Soroti was an inspiring mix of learning, creativity, and practical filmmaking skills. The sessions showed participants that telling powerful stories doesn’t require huge budgets — it takes vision, planning, and dedication to bring ideas to life.
Cyrus Esunget opened the day with lessons on writing for low-budget films, directing fundamentals, and acting basics. He demonstrated how to create strong visuals, guide actors effectively, and deliver performances that feel real and relatable. His advice focused on keeping stories true to Ugandan life while making the most of limited resources.
Eunice Acan then took the participants through the process of script breakdown and the importance of clear contracts. She highlighted the need to define responsibilities, timelines, and expectations to keep production smooth and professional. She also explained the key roles on a film set, showing how teamwork ensures every project runs efficiently.
Denis Onen wrapped up the day with essential lessons on set etiquette, emphasizing respect, communication, and professionalism. He shared his guiding principle: “Form follows function.” He urged filmmakers to let the story’s purpose shape every decision, keeping it simple, clear, and impactful.
As Day 2 concluded, excitement was high for Day 3, when some of the stories could be greenlit for shooting in Soroti. The festival continues to inspire and equip emerging filmmakers to tell authentic Ugandan stories with confidence and creativity.
