Frank Gashumba has challenged pastors, apostles and prophets who claim to have extraordinary healing powers to prove their abilities by healing a sick person of his choice in Uganda.
Gashumba reportedly increased his financial challenge from Shs200 million to Shs500 million, saying he would pay the money in cash to any religious leader who manages to demonstrate the healing powers they claim to possess.
The businessman and public commentator questioned why some pastors and prophets who claim to perform miracles continue to operate near hospitals, yet patients in the same communities still become seriously ill and die despite the presence of churches and prayer centres.
Gashumba also questioned the behaviour of some religious leaders who encourage followers to have strong faith in miraculous healing while they themselves rely on security guards, expensive vehicles and other forms of protection.

He contrasted the lifestyles of some prominent pastors with those of their followers, saying some believers struggle to afford basic transportation while their religious leaders move around with high-end vehicles and security escorts.
Gashumba further argued that medical doctors should be trusted to diagnose and manage illnesses, while criticising what he described as false claims by self-proclaimed prophets and miracle workers. He said he does not want to blindly follow religious leaders or accept every claim they make.
His challenge has since attracted more attention, with another individual reportedly adding Shs20 million to the amount and calling on pastors, prophets and apostles to come forward and take up the challenge. If honoured as stated, the total amount at stake would rise to Shs520 million.
Gashumba’s remarks have reignited debate about faith healing, religious leadership and the claims made by some churches and prayer centres in Uganda. The challenge now leaves the public waiting to see whether any pastor, apostle or prophet will accept his offer and attempt to prove the healing claims he is questioning.
