Mityana Woman MP Hon. Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa has surprised many supporters after openly declaring her continued love and loyalty to the National Unity Platform (NUP). Her comments come at a time when political pressure is rising ahead of the 2026 general elections, and many politicians are choosing sides.
While speaking to residents of Mityana, Bagala admitted that she would not be where she is today without NUP and the People Power movement. She said the party played a key role in lifting her voice, giving her strength, and helping her connect with the people in a powerful way.

Bagala explained that although she did not receive the official NUP card at the time, her heart and blood have always belonged to the struggle. She described herself as a true believer in the red color of the People Power movement—a symbol she said is permanently part of her identity.
In her emotional message, Bagala reminded the crowd of her efforts in Parliament during the 2021–2026 term. She said no female MP in the country has been on the frontline for the people like she has. According to her, her record speaks for itself.
She highlighted the dramatic events in Butayunja, where she was caught in heavy tear gas while standing with the people. Bagala said that moment showed her commitment and willingness to suffer with the community she represents.
The MP also spoke proudly about her performance in Parliament. She said she has brought important motions, spoken strongly about national issues, and fought tirelessly for Uganda’s coffee sector. According to her, these fights were not political but for the survival of ordinary citizens.
Bagala also praised Bobi Wine, saying the NUP president remains a strong inspiration to millions of Ugandans who desire change. She noted that his courage and determination motivated her to enter politics with purpose and bravery.
Her message comes at a time when many politicians are repositioning themselves ahead of the elections. Political observers say Bagala’s renewed closeness with NUP could reshape the political mood in Mityana and influence major decisions within the party.

Supporters at the event cheered loudly as she spoke, with many saying they were happy to hear her reaffirm her loyalty. Others said her humility in “swallowing her pride” shows maturity and a clear understanding of the political climate.
As election pressure continues to mount, Bagala’s public declaration is expected to spark new discussions within NUP and among voters. Whether her renewed loyalty strengthens her political standing remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—she has reignited the conversation in Mityana and beyond.
