Media personality Fredrick Lugonvu Ssentongo has finally lifted the lid on why he decided to walk away from BBS Terefayina, ending months of speculation about his quiet departure from the Mengo-based TV station.
After three years with the Buganda Kingdom-owned network, Lugonvu—who previously worked with Salt TV—revealed that his exit was not driven by conflict or dissatisfaction, but by a growing realization that his career path was evolving. “When I joined BBS, I was already grounded in the media industry and financially stable. Over time, I began to appreciate my worth and felt ready to explore opportunities beyond the TV screen,” he shared.
Lugonvu admitted that juggling his media career with his personal business ventures had become overwhelming. Away from the camera, he runs an educational institution and manages a team of staff — responsibilities that required his full attention. “Balancing both roles was draining. I reached a point where I couldn’t deliver 100% to either side, and my supervisors noticed that my focus was shifting,” he said candidly.
In an unexpected revelation, Lugonvu mentioned that throughout his stay at BBS, he never once withdrew his salary. Instead, he saved every shilling in the company’s staff SACCO, reflecting a mindset more focused on long-term growth than immediate gain.
His decision to leave, he noted, was about self-awareness and realignment rather than dissatisfaction. “Sometimes, you outgrow certain spaces—not because they are bad, but because your purpose is calling you elsewhere,” he concluded.
Lugonvu’s story offers a glimpse into the inner struggles of balancing fame, ambition, and personal growth—reminding many that even in the spotlight, tough choices must be made for the sake of fulfillment and focus.
