Kisoro District LC5 Chairperson Richard Ndyana and two other people have sustained serious injuries after a government vehicle they were travelling in crashed along the Kabale-Kisoro road in Rubanda District.
The accident happened on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at around 7:40pm in Hamuko Village, Karengeri Parish, Muko Sub-county, according to police.
Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said the vehicle involved was a Toyota Hilux Double Cabin pick-up belonging to Kisoro District Local Government.
The government vehicle, registration number 3400392, was reportedly travelling from Kabale towards Kisoro when the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp bend.
The impact caused the vehicle to overturn several times, leaving Ndyana and two unidentified male occupants with serious injuries.
Traffic officers from Rubanda District rushed to the scene and evacuated the injured to Kisoro Hospital, where they were taken for medical attention.
Police have urged motorists using the Kabale-Rubanda-Kisoro route to exercise maximum caution, particularly when approaching sharp bends, and to adhere to recommended speed limits.
Tumushime also cautioned drivers against drink-driving and urged motorists to take breaks whenever they feel tired, stressing that responsible driving remains critical in preventing avoidable road crashes.
