Thirty Ugandan women coaches have embarked on a FIFA-supported CAF C Coaching Course as the country intensifies efforts to increase the number of qualified women in football technical roles.
The residential training began on Monday, August 17, 2026, in Njeru, bringing together coaches alongside former and current players seeking to build professional careers in coaching.
Supported through FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme, the course is designed to equip participants with essential coaching skills applicable in grassroots football, schools, academies, clubs and youth development programmes.
The training combines classroom instruction with practical sessions, allowing participants to strengthen their technical understanding, coaching techniques and knowledge of the modern game.
The latest programme forms part of a broader pathway being implemented through the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to enable more Ugandan women to obtain CAF coaching qualifications and progress to higher levels.
The initiative follows the recent enrolment of four Ugandan women coaches for the CAF B Coaching Course under FIFA scholarships. Five other Ugandan women are pursuing CAF A qualifications, meaning 39 female coaches are currently benefiting from FIFA-supported coaching education programmes through FUFA.
The CAF C intake features coaches from clubs, schools and football development programmes across the country, including She Corporate FC, Amus College WFC, Mengo City FC, BUL Women FC, She Maroons FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Tooro Queens FC, Nyamityobora FC and Makerere University WFC.
The investment is expected to expand the pool of qualified female coaches capable of taking up technical and leadership roles in clubs, academies and national teams, while creating a clear progression route from entry-level coaching education to the highest CAF coaching qualification.
