Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has pledged its support for the 15th Annual East Africa Information Security Conference, as regional stakeholders intensify efforts to strengthen cybersecurity, protect data and build confidence in digital services.
The conference is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 18, 2026, under the theme “Securing the Future through Digital Trust.” It is expected to bring together cybersecurity professionals, policymakers, technology experts and other key players from across East Africa.
UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo announced the regulator’s support following a meeting with leaders of the ISACA Kampala Chapter, led by its president, Maurice Taremwa, where discussions focused on collaboration in advancing secure digital transformation.
Thembo said effective cybersecurity systems and strong data protection measures are essential to ensuring that citizens, businesses and governments can confidently embrace digital technologies and services.
“As regulators, we recognise that robust cybersecurity frameworks and data protection mechanisms are fundamental to a thriving digital economy,” Thembo said.
He noted that the conference will offer an important platform for regional experts and decision-makers to examine emerging cyber threats and explore practical measures for securing East Africa’s increasingly interconnected digital environment.
According to Thembo, ISACA has continued to play an important role in bringing together cybersecurity professionals and decision-makers to address emerging challenges surrounding information security and digital trust.
He said UCC looks forward to meaningful discussions and practical outcomes from the conference, particularly at a time when the rapid expansion of online services is increasing the need for stronger safeguards against cybersecurity threats and data breaches.
