Kampala Central MP aspirant Luzzi Abraham has sparked intense national debate after announcing that corrupt government officials should face the death penalty if found guilty. The bold statement was made during the unveiling of his manifesto ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking to supporters, Luzzi declared that Uganda’s fight against corruption can only succeed if the country adopts the strongest punishment possible. He argued that corruption has destroyed the nation for too long, and it is time for extreme measures to stop those who steal public funds.

In his speech, Luzzi did not hold back. He said that government officials who embezzle money, cause financial loss, or engage in misuse of public resources should be sentenced to death. Quoting in Luganda, he added, “Yenna akwatibwa mu musango gw’enguzzi attibwe,” meaning anyone caught in corruption should be killed.
This statement shocked many Ugandans, while others praised him for speaking what they called “the hard truth.” Supporters believe that such a harsh policy would finally scare corrupt officials and save the country billions of shillings lost each year.
Luzzi argued that corruption has affected every sector of Uganda—from hospitals lacking medicine, to schools with poor facilities, to roads full of potholes. He said innocent citizens suffer while a few individuals get rich illegally, and this must come to an end.
However, critics quickly responded, saying the death penalty is too extreme and violates human rights. Some legal experts also questioned whether such a law could ever pass in Parliament or be accepted under Uganda’s Constitution.
Despite the controversy, Luzzi continued to defend his position. He said Uganda must choose between protecting corrupt individuals or saving the country from economic destruction. According to him, corruption is as dangerous as murder because it destroys lives indirectly.
His manifesto also promised stronger transparency systems, regular government audits, and public tracking of all government contracts. Luzzi said his death penalty proposal is only one part of a bigger plan to completely transform Kampala Central.

Social media platforms were immediately flooded with reactions, memes, arguments, and heated discussions. Some people called Luzzi the “Ugandan Duterte,” comparing him to the former Philippine president known for extreme policies. Others accused him of using shock value to gain attention.
As campaigns draw closer, Luzzi Abraham’s tough anti-corruption message has already made him one of the most talked-about aspirants in Kampala Central. Whether voters will support his radical approach or reject it remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—his manifesto has changed the political conversation.
