The landmark event, marking four decades of the National Resistance Movement, brought together government leaders, security agencies, and citizens in a shared moment of reflection and recognition.
The spotlight turned to the officers whose service has stood out in different ways. Each medal awarded symbolized a story of commitment, resilience, and loyalty to Uganda, reminding the nation that peace and order do not come without effort and sacrifice.
One of the top honors presented was the National Independence Diamond Jubilee Medal. This decoration is reserved for individuals whose work has left a lasting and meaningful contribution to the country’s progress and stability.
The Personal Sacrifice Medal was also awarded to some of the officers. This recognition speaks to the hardships and risks security personnel often face while carrying out their duties, sometimes placing their own safety on the line for the good of others.
Officers recognized with the Meritorious Service Medal were praised for their exceptional performance and professional conduct. Their consistent dedication and high standards of work set an example within the police force.
The Gallant Star, known as a symbol of bravery, was handed to officers who showed courage in difficult and dangerous situations. It reflects bold action taken in moments when others depend on protection and quick response.
Two officers also received the Long Service Medal, a tribute to years of faithful and disciplined work. Their careers reflect patience, endurance, and unwavering commitment to serving the nation over time.
