President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made a nostalgic return to Rwampara on Monday, revisiting Bujaga—a place he last explored as a young boy more than sixty years ago, walking on foot to watch a local football match. The journey stirred vivid childhood memories, connecting his early experiences to Uganda’s long path toward peace and development.
Joined by First Lady Janet Museveni and top NRM officials, the President reflected on the district’s turbulent history, including the liberation struggles of 1979 and 1985. He used the occasion to draw a clear comparison between the hardships of the past and the stability the region enjoys today.
“Uganda has moved from chaos to calm, and peace remains the foundation of all our progress,” Museveni told an attentive crowd. His words struck a chord with locals, many of whom have witnessed firsthand the district’s remarkable evolution.
Infrastructure development, the President pointed out, has been a driving force behind Rwampara’s transformation. The district now features a main road and several key connecting routes to neighboring Isingiro, enhancing trade, mobility, and local economic growth.
Museveni also highlighted the district’s full electricity coverage, a development that has dramatically improved daily life and created new opportunities for residents. Looking forward, he revealed plans to upgrade the Buteraniro–Bugamba–Rwoho–Bukoni–Kitwe road and the Ruti–Mwizi–Kikagate road, critical channels for commerce and agriculture.
The President encouraged communities to adopt sustainable farming practices, emphasizing the protection of wetlands while participating in government-led irrigation initiatives aimed at safeguarding crops from erratic rainfall and strengthening food security.
Healthcare services have similarly expanded, Museveni noted, with every sub-county now hosting either a Health Centre III or IV. He also announced plans to elevate one of the Health Centre IVs into a full district hospital, bringing more comprehensive medical care closer to residents.
As Museveni continues his campaign across Ankole, he consistently underscores the link between peace, infrastructure, and socio-economic development, portraying a vision in which stability and progress unite to improve the lives of every Ugandan.
