At a lively gathering held at Fresh Fire Deliverance Ministries in Nabulagala, Rubaga Division, Kampala, leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) called on Ugandans to safeguard the nation’s hard-earned achievements under President Yoweri Museveni. The event drew prominent political figures and community members, highlighting the themes of unity, development, and the importance of maintaining national stability.
Busoga Kingdom Minister of Tourism, Owek Hellen Namutamba, passionately outlined the milestones of the NRM government, urging citizens to remain steadfast in their support for the president. She emphasized that Uganda’s progress in peace, security, and steady development underscores the importance of continuity in leadership.
“We stand firmly with President Museveni because the NRM has delivered the peace and stability that form the foundation for all other achievements,” Namutamba stated. She praised the government’s efforts in transforming education, infrastructure, and public services, presenting these accomplishments as a strong case for ongoing leadership.
Among the highlights she noted were the expansion of Universal Primary Education (UPE), enhanced road networks, wider access to electricity, industrial growth, and improved healthcare services. Namutamba framed these developments as a legacy that Ugandans must protect, stressing that the upcoming vote is crucial to consolidating the nation’s gains.
In a show of support for the local community, Namutamba donated 2 million shillings to church choir groups and encouraged young people to resist the influence of opportunistic political actors. She stressed that a responsible and engaged electorate is essential for sustaining Uganda’s development trajectory.
NRM mobilizer Hellen Kayonga, the event’s chief guest, echoed these sentiments, reminding participants that the party’s greatest accomplishment has been restoring national peace after decades of unrest that disrupted communities and forced leaders into exile. Kayonga also pledged to support local initiatives, including constructing a new church building and reviving Fresh TV, the ministry’s broadcast channel.
Pastor Twaha Muzira urged congregants to participate actively in the 2026 elections, stressing that the objective is to achieve unprecedented nationwide support for President Museveni. Both Namutamba and Kayonga highlighted grassroots mobilization as key, encouraging NRM supporters to reach every voter and ensure no community is left behind.
As Uganda prepares for the 2026 polls, the gathering sent a clear message: protecting the country’s achievements requires active civic engagement, continued backing of proven leadership, and a shared commitment to national progress. For Namutamba, Kayonga, and the NRM, the strategy is straightforward—preserve accomplishments, empower communities, and keep Uganda on a steady path toward development.
