The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is advancing works on a major water transmission project designed to strengthen the reliability of water supply in Mbarara City and surrounding communities.
The project is being implemented as part of the Government of Uganda’s efforts to improve water infrastructure and ensure that residents have access to a more dependable supply.
Central to the project is the installation of a 12-inch water transmission main extending from Mbarara City towards the Kanyeganyege booster station, which will play a key role in moving water through the system.
From the Kanyeganyege booster station, water will be pumped to the Nyampikye tank before being distributed through the network to communities that rely on the system.
The completed works are expected to improve water supply reliability in Bwizibwera, Kaguhanzya, Rubindi and other neighbouring areas within and around Mbarara.
NWSC is making every effort to speed up the works and have the new transmission line completed and commissioned within a period of two months.
The corporation has also recognised the support of stakeholders in Mbarara City, whose involvement in planning and implementation has contributed to the progress of the project.
With construction continuing, NWSC is focused on bringing the new line into operation as quickly as possible and strengthening the water supply system for communities across Mbarara City and its surrounding areas.
