The Electoral Commission of Uganda (@UgandaEC) held an important meeting today with representatives of all eight presidential candidates and leadership from the Uganda Police Force (@PoliceUg). The discussion focused on reviewing the first week of national election campaigns and finding ways to ensure the coming weeks remain safe, smooth, and peaceful.
During the meeting, participants shared their experiences, raised concerns, and discussed emerging issues since campaigns began. The Commission reminded everyone to follow the harmonized campaign schedule, adhere to guidelines, and respect electoral laws. Officials emphasized that cooperation and compliance are key to giving all candidates equal opportunities to reach their supporters.
The Commission also urged political parties and their agents to resolve disagreements through dialogue rather than conflict. Police representatives assured continued support in maintaining order and safeguarding both candidates and the public throughout the campaign period.
By the meeting’s end, all parties committed to working together in a spirit of fairness, respect, and peace. They agreed to address challenges through discussion instead of confrontation, offering hope that Uganda’s election campaigns will remain democratic and peaceful as the nation approaches election day.
