Prof. Nuwagaba Augustus, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, emphasized the importance of human capital, leadership, and strategic planning as the pillars of organisational success during a keynote at the “People Puzzle in the C-Suite” dialogue, organised by People Brand House Limited.
Addressing business leaders and professionals, Prof. Nuwagaba described human capital development as a critical driver of efficiency, noting that investing in employees reduces turnover, builds future leaders, and strengthens competitive advantage.
On leadership, he stressed the need for visionary leaders who inspire teams, navigate challenges, and set clear direction, ensuring organisations remain agile and resilient. Strategic planning, he added, aligns resources, anticipates market trends, and enables organisations to mitigate risks while seizing opportunities.
“Human capital, leadership, and strategy complement each other,” Prof. Nuwagaba said, “and together they form the foundation for long-term business growth and efficiency.”
Attendees praised the keynote for offering practical insights applicable across industries, with many noting its relevance for strengthening Uganda’s business landscape. Prof. Nuwagaba concluded by urging organisations to prioritise people and planning as essential steps for sustainable success in a competitive economy.
