A young man who had been moving around Kampala City seeking financial assistance for his daughter’s medical treatment has been exposed after residents allegedly discovered that the wound on the child’s eye was not a genuine medical condition.
The man had reportedly been approaching members of the public and asking for support, claiming that his young daughter was suffering from cancer affecting her eye and needed urgent treatment.
According to residents who became suspicious, the man had been using the child’s condition to appeal for money from well-wishers, with many people offering financial assistance after seeing the child’s affected eye.
However, the situation changed after some residents decided to investigate further and reportedly discovered that the injury on the child’s eye was artificially created.
The discovery shocked members of the public who had sympathised with the family and contributed money believing they were helping a child battling a serious illness.
Residents who confronted the man reportedly accused him of misleading people by presenting a false medical situation in order to collect money.

The young father was later arrested by residents who demanded answers over the allegations and questioned why he would expose his own child to such treatment.
Witnesses said that many people in Kampala had been touched by the story because illnesses such as cancer usually attract sympathy and support from the public.
Some residents expressed disappointment, saying that using a child to gain financial assistance through false claims was unacceptable and could put the child’s health and safety at risk.
The incident has raised concerns about cases where some individuals use fake medical conditions to collect money from unsuspecting members of the public.
Several residents said that although many people are willing to help families facing genuine medical challenges, such cases make it harder for those with real emergencies to receive support.
Community members urged the public to always verify medical claims before offering large amounts of money to avoid being manipulated by fraudulent activities.
They also called on authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that the child receives proper care and protection.
The allegations against the man have attracted attention from Kampala residents, with many demanding accountability for anyone who exploits children for personal gain.
Some people who had earlier contributed money said they felt disappointed after learning about the claims and called for stronger measures against people who create fake stories to collect funds.
Child protection advocates have often warned against involving children in deceptive fundraising activities, saying such actions can cause emotional and physical harm.

The case comes at a time when many Ugandans use social media and public appeals to raise money for medical treatment, education and other urgent needs.
While many fundraising campaigns are genuine and help save lives, incidents involving false claims continue to raise concerns about trust and accountability.
Residents said that genuine patients and families who need assistance may suffer because people become suspicious after hearing about fraudulent cases.
The man’s arrest has sparked debate among Kampala residents about the need for stricter monitoring of public fundraising appeals involving children.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish what exactly happened before any further action is taken.
Meanwhile, members of the public have urged communities to remain vigilant while offering help, ensuring that support reaches those who genuinely need it.
