Concern is growing among members of the Tooro Kingdom following reports that Omukama Rukirabasaija Dr. Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is currently receiving medical attention in the United States, with sources close to the royal family claiming that his health condition has become a matter of serious concern.
Reports indicate that the youthful monarch has reportedly been admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), although details surrounding his condition have not been officially confirmed by the Tooro Kingdom administration or the royal household.
A source said to be close to the royal circles claimed that the family initially decided to keep the King’s health situation private in order to avoid causing panic among his subjects and the general public.
“Things are getting out of hand. We first kept it a top secret but if we don’t talk now, it will be hard to convince the subjects that he has been sick,” the source reportedly said.
The source further explained that the decision to share information about the King’s condition was influenced by the need to prepare his subjects and avoid speculation surrounding his health.
“Remember the circumstances under which his father, King David Matthew Kaboyo, died and the controversies that followed? We have to mitigate similar scenarios. Let the subjects know and pray for their King,” the source added.

According to reports, the 34-year-old monarch has spent several months in the United States where he has reportedly been receiving medical treatment.
Some sources have claimed that King Oyo is battling cancer, but the royal family has not released any official statement confirming the diagnosis or the reported ICU admission.
The lack of official communication has created anxiety among many Batoro who have continued searching for updates about the wellbeing of their cultural leader.
King Oyo remains one of the most recognised traditional leaders in Uganda and has represented the continuity of the Tooro Kingdom since he ascended to the throne as a young child.
The monarch became Omukama of Tooro in 1995 at the age of three following the death of his father, Omukama Patrick Matthew David Kaboyo Olimi III.
His early years on the throne were managed through a regency arrangement as he grew up and prepared to take on royal responsibilities.
King Oyo’s coronation attracted international attention because he became one of the youngest reigning monarchs in the world.
Over the years, he has participated in cultural activities and worked to promote the heritage, tourism and development interests of Tooro Kingdom.
The reported health concerns have also brought back memories of the death of his father, whose passing in 1995 attracted public attention and discussions within the Kingdom.

However, many Batoro say their immediate concern is the recovery and wellbeing of their current King rather than past events surrounding the royal family.
The Tooro Kingdom remains one of Uganda’s oldest traditional institutions, with deep cultural importance among the Batoro people of western Uganda.
As concerns continue growing, many subjects of the Kingdom are reportedly waiting for an official update from Karuzika Palace regarding the King’s health.
Religious leaders, cultural supporters and members of the public have continued calling for prayers and hope as they await more information.
If confirmed, the reported illness would represent one of the most serious health challenges faced by the Tooro royal family since the restoration of traditional institutions in Uganda.
For now, uncertainty remains as Batoro at home and abroad continue hoping for positive news about Omukama Oyo’s condition and recovery.
