Uganda Waragi, one of Uganda’s most celebrated spirit brands, has officially rolled out its “SO UG SO 60” campaign to honor 60 remarkable years of existence in the country. The initiative is designed to recognize and celebrate the strength, innovation, and community spirit of ordinary Ugandans who continue to make a difference in their daily lives and communities.
The anniversary celebrations began with a colorful activation that saw a convoy of boda bodas riding through key areas of Kampala. The procession kicked off from Motiv in Bugolobi and made energetic stops along Yusuf Lule Road, Wandegeya, and Nakawa Market, where local heroes were pleasantly surprised with special tokens of appreciation for their contributions to society.
Among those recognized were Sula Birungo, a selfless man known for feeding many Ugandans despite not drinking alcohol; JIBS, the famous chapati maker from Wandegeya; the teams from SASS and Class Salon; a popular taxi driver; and VJ Junior, a highly regarded movie translator. Several hardworking traders from Nakawa Market were also honored for their dedication and service to the community.
The day ended with a joyful celebration at Nakawa Market, where Uganda Waragi representatives shared a communal meal with vendors, reflecting on the unity and resilience that have defined the brand and its people for the past 60 years.
Through the “SO UG SO 60” campaign, Uganda Waragi plans to continue highlighting inspiring Ugandans from all walks of life—celebrating the everyday spirit, perseverance, and creativity that embody the true essence of being Ugandan.
