Media personality Hajat Kulthum Nabunya has revealed that her marriage to Akram Gumisiriza officially ended last year, as she confirmed that she has since moved on and entered a new marriage.
Kulthum made the revelation while congratulating her former husband after reports emerged that he had proposed to his new Mzungu girlfriend.
The media personality explained that she and Akram are no longer husband and wife, saying their divorce was completed last year under Islamic law.
To prove her statement, Kulthum shared a verification letter for her divorce certificate issued through the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s Directorate of Sharia.
She said the document confirms that her previous marriage legally came to an end before she accepted a proposal from her current husband.
According to Kulthum, after her divorce, she met someone new who approached her with a marriage proposal, which she accepted.
She revealed that she and her new husband held a private Nikkah ceremony attended by a small number of close friends and family members.
Kulthum described her new husband as “an angel I had never met on earth,” expressing happiness about the new chapter in her life.
“Just to remind bloggers, I told you that I and Mr Gumisiriza were no longer husband and wife. I filed my divorce and was successfully attained last year,” she wrote.
She added that after her divorce, she received a marriage proposal from her current husband and accepted it before celebrating their union privately.
Kulthum also took time to send congratulations to Akram as he begins another chapter in his personal life.
She wished her former husband happiness and encouraged him to enjoy his new journey after their marriage came to an end.
