Dr Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation, has added another important leadership position to his name after being elected Head of Laity for the Archdiocese of Mbarara. His election marks a new chapter of service, not only in national development but also in the spiritual growth and unity of the Catholic Church in western Uganda.
Known for his calm leadership style and commitment to serving people, Dr Mugisha has been actively involved in church work for many years. Before this new appointment, he served as the Head of Laity at Kitabi Parish, where he worked closely with Christians and church leaders in promoting faith, unity, and community programs. His dedication and humble approach made him a respected figure both within the Church and in public service.
As the new Head of Laity for the Archdiocese of Mbarara, Dr Mugisha is expected to guide and coordinate lay Catholics across the region. The role is important because it connects ordinary church members with church leadership and helps strengthen participation in church activities, development projects, and spiritual programs. Many Christians believe his experience in leadership and management will help bring fresh energy and progress to the archdiocese.
Dr Mugisha takes over from Gervase Ndyanabo, whose term in office has come to an end. Ndyanabo is appreciated for his service and commitment during his tenure, and many faithful have thanked him for his contribution to the Church. At the same time, believers are optimistic that Dr Mugisha will continue the good work while introducing new ideas that can inspire growth and unity among Christians.
