Residents in Kampala were stunned after a man believed to have been involved in mobile phone snatching across different parts of the city was finally apprehended in unexpected circumstances.
Witnesses say the suspect burst into tears after being caught, repeatedly pleading for mercy and vowing that he would never engage in theft again.
According to people familiar with the matter, the man had allegedly been connected to numerous phone theft cases, leaving many victims distressed after losing costly smartphones along with valuable personal data and important contacts.
Although members of the public and security officers had made several efforts to track him down over time, he reportedly managed to evade capture on every occasion, making it difficult to identify and arrest him.
One of the victims, who had recently been robbed of a high-end smartphone containing important business information and personal records, reportedly refused to abandon the search.
