The Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, has called for improved security, professionalism and better service delivery at Entebbe International Airport following an inspection of the airport’s facilities and operations earlier today.
During the inspection, Byamukama assessed various services and facilities at the country’s main international airport to establish areas that need improvement. He also made several recommendations aimed at ensuring that passengers, cargo handlers and other airport users receive better and more efficient services.
The minister particularly challenged security teams and other stakeholders operating at the airport to carry out their responsibilities with a high level of professionalism. He emphasised that all workers must remain committed to their duties and ensure that the airport maintains the highest standards of service and security.
Byamukama also highlighted the need to strengthen surveillance systems at both the cargo and passenger facilities. He advised that security monitoring should be improved to ensure that suspicious activities are identified and addressed quickly before they develop into bigger security threats.
His recommendations come at a time when Entebbe International Airport continues to serve as Uganda’s main gateway to the rest of the world, handling thousands of passengers and significant cargo traffic. Maintaining strong security systems and quality services is therefore important in protecting travellers, businesses and the country’s international reputation.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has indicated that it is taking steps to address the gaps identified during the minister’s inspection. The authority is working towards strengthening operational systems and improving service delivery across the airport.
The inspection also highlights the government’s continued interest in ensuring that Entebbe International Airport operates efficiently and meets the expectations of international travellers and other airport users.
With the minister’s recommendations now brought to the attention of the responsible authorities, attention will be on how quickly the identified gaps are addressed to improve security, professionalism and the overall experience of people using the airport.
