Fresh concerns have emerged over the health condition of veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye after his family and political allies revealed that he remains in a critical state while receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
According to updates from senior leaders of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Dr Besigye is still unable to speak and is currently receiving nutrition through feeding tubes as doctors continue monitoring his condition.
Doreen Nyanjura, the PFF Head of Special Interests, shared the worrying update, saying the former presidential candidate remains very weak and requires close medical attention.
“Besigye is feeding through tubes and cannot even speak,” Nyanjura said while giving an update on his condition.
The latest information has caused concern among his supporters, political colleagues and members of the public who have continued following developments since his sudden collapse during court proceedings.
Dr Besigye was rushed to Mulago Hospital after collapsing while appearing before court, an incident that immediately raised questions about his health and the circumstances surrounding his condition.

His wife, Winnie Byanyima, also provided an update on his health, saying that although there had been some slight improvement, the opposition leader remained in a fragile condition.
Byanyima explained that Dr Besigye was only partially conscious and could hear what was happening around him, but he was unable to speak or communicate normally.
“Yesterday, Dr Kizza Besigye was only partially conscious. He could hear but could not speak. He remains extremely weak. Doctors are still trying to determine what happened to him,” Byanyima said.
The statement from his family has increased concerns among Ugandans who have been praying for his recovery and demanding more information about his medical situation.
Since his admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), opposition leaders have repeatedly called for transparency regarding his treatment and access to medical care.
They have also questioned the events that happened before his collapse in court, saying the public deserves answers about what led to his sudden deterioration.
However, medical authorities have not yet released a detailed public report explaining the exact cause of Dr Besigye’s condition.
Doctors attending to him are reportedly continuing with medical examinations as they work to establish what happened and provide the necessary treatment.
Dr Besigye’s health became a major national concern after he collapsed during court proceedings where he was facing charges alongside other individuals.

His family and supporters have continued appealing for prayers and expressing hope that he will recover from the condition.
Political leaders from different sides of the divide have also followed the situation closely as the country waits for further updates.
The veteran politician, who has contested for Uganda’s presidency several times, remains one of the country’s most recognised opposition figures.
His long political career has attracted both strong support and criticism, but his current health situation has brought attention beyond political differences.
As doctors continue monitoring his condition, his family has asked Ugandans to keep praying for his recovery.
The country remains waiting for more updates on Dr Kizza Besigye’s health as he continues receiving specialised medical care at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
